That was a reader-driven program which held for two years. The results were as expected. While in few cases history repeated and patterns remained the same, in rest, new and some of the times surprising winners emerged.
As usual, innovation remained a key driver, but that year, with enterprises narrowing their objectives and IT budgets getting smaller, the mindshare that goes with being time-tested seems to have given these products an advantage.

How to wire a 10BaseT, 100BaseT or 1000BaseT connector with Category 5, 5e, 6, 6e cable and RJ45 connectors using USOC 568B wiring standards
RJ45 is a standard type of connector for network cables. RJ45 connectors are most commonly seen with Ethernet cables and networks.

RJ45 connectors feature eight pins to which the wire strands of a cable interface electrically. Standard RJ-45 pintouts define the arrangement of the individual wires needed when attaching connectors to a cable.
