7 Ways N900 Is Better Than iPhone

Posted on 13 December 2009

Recently, Apple has taken over a large portion of the smart phone market, making the iPhone king of the all the smart phones. Several mobile phone manufacturers like Nokia have released different phones in competition to the iPhone.

Out of these, Nokia’s new N900 phone has all the capabilities, and more functions than the iPhone, making it a better choice.

Here is a list of 7 ways why N900 is better than the iPhone:

1. N900 Cheaper Than iPhone- With No Contract

You can get Nokia N900 for $500 from amazon.com, whereas the iPhone 3GS 32GB is for $300. Although iPhone may seem cheaper at first glance, but as N900 is an unlocked GSM phone, you’re not stuck with a single mobile provider.

The $300 iPhone 3GS is offered by AT&T and locked to their network, i.e. you must agree to a 2-year contract when you buy the iPhone, which will end up costing you thousands of dollars in the long run.

2. Unlocked World Phone

If you travel often to different countries, then you must know how much the roaming costs. Having the N900, you can simply get a local SIM card for the country you are visiting and save up a lot of money.

3. Built-in Keyboard

iPhone users often complain about the on-screen keyboard, as it can be frustrating to type on a little screen. The Nokia N900 comes with a built in keyboard, and although you may not be able to type too fast, it will definitely be faster and more efficient than iPhone. Moreover, if you are a touchscreen keyboard fan, the N900 has one of those too.

4. Two Cameras

Amazingly, the Nokia N900 has 2 cameras. The first one is a 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss autofocus camera with dual LED flash, along with lens cover. The second one is a front-facing VGA webcam. This should be very useful for video calls.

5. Skype, Google Talk

The N900 offers Skype, Google Talk, and SIP support that has been built right into the phone’s dialer. This enables users to make Skype calls just as easily as regular mobile phone calls. You don’t have to install any additional software or a separate app for Skype.

6. Built-in GPS Routing Software (no extra charge)

The N900 comes with GPS navigation without any extra charge, eliminating the need to buy or download extra software. Maps and routing are also provided by Nokia’s Ovi service.

7. Multitasking

iPhone only allows users to run one app at a time. This means that if you are listening to music via the last.fm app, you cannot use another app at the same time. The N900 on the other hand allows you to run as many apps as you want simultaneously, similar to your computer.
