How to Install iTunes without Apple Quicktime

Time and again Apple has come up with inventions which have helped them not only survive, but also take market lead. One of these inventions was the iPod. A small handheld device that had incredible sound and music to blow your heads off. iPhone was another such invention that turned heads. Both iPod and iPhone use iTunes, which is the official software interference for Apple inventions.



Whenever you download iTunes from Apple’s Website, you will automatically get QuickTime with iTunes. QuickTime offers iTunes with playback and encoding support. If QuickTime is not present with your iTunes then you will probably see an error message “Quicktime was not found. Quicktime is required to run iTunes. Please re-install iTunes.” But if you have installed QT Lite or QuickTime Alternative and want to save space installing a fresh copy of QuickTime, then here are a few tricks to download and install iTunes without QuickTime:


Method 1– Installing iTunes 5, 6 or 7 (if you have not installed QTA)

  1. Download iTunes Application.
  2. Run the App. and install everything using the setup.
  3. Go to Control Panel in Windows, click on “Add or Remove Programs” (Windows XP) or “Uninstall a Program” (under Programs and Features in Windows Vista).
  4. Uninstall QuickTime.
  5. Install QuickTime Alternative (QTA) to get iTunes running.

Method 2– Installing iTunes7 (incase you’ve already installed QTA)

  1. Install QuickTime Alternative (QTA).
  2. Download the latest iTunes App.
  3. Extract the Application using WinRAR. Take out the stuffing of the installer heading by WinRAR. You will see 5 .msi Windows Installer Package setup files, i.e. AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi, AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi, iTunes.msi, iTunesSetupAdmin.msi and QuickTime.msi.
  4. Now delete Quicktime.msi
  5. now you must
  6. Open Command Prompt window (in Vista cmd.exe, Run as Administrator) and write the following command:

msiexec.exe /i iTunes.msi /quiet

Method 3- Installing iTunes7 (incase you’ve already installed QTA)

  1. Install QuickTime Alternative (QTA).
  2. Download the latest iTunes App.
  3. Extract the Application using WinRAR. Take out the stuffing of the installer heading by WinRAR. You will see 5 .msi Windows Installer Package setup files, i.e. AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi, AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi, iTunes.msi, iTunesSetupAdmin.msi and QuickTime.msi.
  4. Now delete Quicktime.msi
  5. Download and install Orca(An msi editor).
  6. Run Orca and open iTunes.msi file in the extracted folder.
  7. Click on CustomeAction table, and then locate QuickTimeInstallFailed action. Delete the row completely.
  8. Save the setup installer which doesn’t check for QuickTime component
  9. Now, run iTunes.msi to install iTunes without QuickTime

Method 4- iTunes 5 or 6 (If you have installed QTA)

For those of you who use the QT Alternative, sea pagan at MSFN has made the versions of iTunes without QuickTime. The Cracked installer only includes English language files, and is available for iTunes version 6.0.2.23 and 5.0.1 in standard installation package.

    Good info. But the first sentence of your article makes me throw up a little every time I reread it. Fortunately, this benifits me, as I have bulemia. Guess what an iPod is? A FRIGGING MP3 PLAYER! It doesnt have Sound and Music to Blow Your Heads Off! the only ‘sound’ it makes is a goddamn annoying click, and the ‘music’ being put on it…holy shit…doesnt magically change to a better quality format simply because it’s coming out of an iPod. Someone who knows workarounds like this can safely be expected not to start out their article with utter bullshit that demonstrates a complete lack of knowledge of what a computer, or a portable mp3 player, even DOES.
