How To Fix Firefox Authenticated Sessions Problem

Posted on 02 February 2009

Since last two weeks Firefox has started to behave strangely. It is for unknown reason is not keeping any of may authenticated sessions. It is saving all my passwords but I have to login to all my sites each time I restart Firefox. I tried everything from resetting Firefox and tweaked all options that were related

I even tried to fix this by flushing all cache and cookies. Finally a friend told me a rather simple solution. here it is..

How to Fix Firefox Login Problems

Step 1 :  Go to your Mozilla Profile Folder, Normall found here C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME_HERE\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Step 2 : Look for a file name cookies.sqlite

Step 3 :  Delete This File (Close Firefox if you get an error message

Step 4 : Open Firefox and Enjoy!

Step 5 : Buy me a coffee if you are happy with me :)

Seeing as flushing/clearing your cookies already does this (i.e. deletes the file), I’m sorry to say this doesn’t work unless the former does. Either way, I tried this but am still suffering from Firefox’s skewed inability to retain my authenticated sessions. Which is a shame since it’s been doing this for at least two months now and is rather annoying.

Thank you SO Much. At first it was just one website, but then when it got to be every single one of them, after about a week, I had it. The restore feature was pretty redundant. Oh it would take you to that site again, but you’d have to sign in all over again. That was the final straw. The problem is fixed and I am very happy and I love fire fox again.
